ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Vibz is a lifestyle blog meant to appeal to young men. The goal of the blog is to give them inspiration for topics such as music, health, gadgets, news & movies.
Target Audience: 25-35 year old men
MY ROLE
Conducting early ideation, competitive analysis, creating wireframes & personas.
THE PROBLEM
The users I surveyed expressed that most blog sites they used were either too cluttered or didn’t have a captivating layout. This led to the viewers feeling uninspired by the content being put on those sites.
Viewers would also want a way to be updated whenever new content was released, without having to return to the site.
My goal for this project was to increase viewer retention by reducing the amount of bells & whistles on the site.
THE SOLUTION
I created a minimalistic layout for the blog homepage by making “menu” a hamburger icon and using a masonry style layout for the featured & recent articles. I also simplified the category page by going with a 2 column layout.
Adding an Email Opt-In CTA was another addition to the site which would allow viewers to receive updates straight to their inbox without having to constantly check for new articles.
Reducing the about of text on non-article pages was also very important. With text heavy pages, there can be a bit of information overload, and visitors could get stuck not knowing what to do.
THE RESULTS
The hi-fidelity wireframes below show a styled Homepage with minalistic Category & Article pages. As more content & articles are added, the category page will more than likely have to be expanded upon.
FUTURE PLANS
Expanding the category pages with more imagery and adding atleast one CTA will be the biggest priority.
