ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Condor is a travel app to streamline the booking process for young adults. Some of the main goals for this project were: Allow a user to book a flight, a hotel and car on a specific date for different destinations. Help them find the best deals on flights, hotels and rental cars. Give them the ability to select holiday activities. Organize all travel plans into one itinerary. Adding functionality for notifications was also a plus.

Target Audience: 20-28 year old adults

Conducting user research, competitive analysis, creating wireframes, personas & prototype.

THE PROBLEM

The difficulty of designing a traveling app is the inherent complexity of booking flights/hotels/cars themselves. It’s often difficult for users to find the ‘best’ option for everything because it often becomes tedious searching through every hotel, rental car company & airline.

Not only that, but prices in the travel industry change all the time. It can be very difficult to keep up with, if you’re not an avid traveller already.

Some common difficulties I’ve heard from users is that they wanted a way to receive notifications without having to constantly log back into the app. Overall organization of their travel plans was also a common pain-point. 

THE SOLUTION

I started off with taking surveys of the common issues with travel booking apps then creating sketches of the prospective app design. After completing the user journey, I began making low-fidelity wireframes of the app.

One of my main focuses was making it as easy as possible to start the booking process once opening the app. The are two options: ‘Go to Dashboard’ or ‘Start Booking’. If the potential user simply wants to go straight to the dashboard, they can hit the button or head to settings to keep it that way by default.

On the dashboard, you can set up notifications, find the best deals or search for your preferred setup. Minimizing the amount of “noise” on the screen always helps ease selection and increase user retention.
